Multiple Category Galleries

I'm a complete noob with website design. i'm trying to make a page on a website where i can provide pictures of multiple categories. I want to have some images with text on top where you can scroll and select with set you want to look at, and depending on what you select, the bigger gallery opens up below, also with the 'slider' ability. 

any idea how to do this?
