Unfortunately there is no way to adjust it to default Contact Form widget. You can try to search for some external module that will meet your requirements and embed it via HTML widget.

I will "second" this request, as we receive multiple copies of our contact form from individuals because they cannot see the "Success" message -- too small.

Now when there is no other option you can increase the font size of the status message and change its color to red for example!
