Moto4 templates enable you to effortlessly build SEO-friendly websites, even without technical expertise. In this Moto4 SEO Optimization Guide, we will explore essential strategies for enhancing your website's search engine optimization.
When your site is ready to be linked to your domain name, it's crucial to follow a set of best practices to ensure everything runs smoothly and optimally. Here are some key actions to consider:
Finalize Your Website Content: Ensure that all content, images, and media are polished and correctly referenced. This step will help avoid errors after the domain is pointed.
Test Your Site: Before making it live, use a temporary domain or a local environment to test all functionalities, including forms, links, and any interactive features.
Set Up Domain Name System (DNS): Once your domain is purchased, configure the DNS settings properly to point your domain name to your server's IP address and connect the domain to your site.
Make sure SSL is enabled. SSL Certificate is installed automatically in Moto4 if your domain is pointed properly and the site published.
Check Website Speed: Check images on the site not to be oversized (if an image takes a little space on a page, it shouldn't have too big size) - make necessary adjustments, as site performance impacts SEO rankings.
As soon as these steps are done, below you will find 10 key points to review sequentially for optimal SEO results:
1.Title and Description
2. Keywords
3. URL Structure
4. Heading Tag
4. Content
5. Image Alt Attributes
7. Indexing
8. Sitemap and Robots.txt
9. Redirects
10. Analytics
Meta tags: Title and Description
When optimizing your web pages for search engines, it's essential to craft effective title tags and meta descriptions.
Each page of the site should have a unique title up recommended to be up to 60 characters (longer headers will be disabled in the search results).
Meta description or meta description tag is HTML attribute that provides explanations of the contents of web pages. Search engines use them in search results to display preview snippets for a definite page.
The optimal length of description should be between 150-160 characters. Add a unique meta description to each page of your website in Pages > choose the page > click the Page Settings button (chainwheel) > SEO.
Meta Keywords
The aim of keywords in SEO is to help search engines understand the content of a webpage and to match it with user queries effectively. By strategically incorporating relevant keywords into website content, titles, and metadata, businesses can improve their visibility in search engine results, attract targeted organic traffic, and enhance user engagement. Overall, keyword optimization plays a crucial role in achieving higher rankings and reaching the right audience.
To achieve the best results, you should assign one relevant keyword to each page. The next step is to create the content of these pages, using the relevant keywords. To ensure perfect results in search engines, the total number of keywords should not exceed 3-4%.
Keywords should be inserted to each page of your website in Pages > choose the page > click the Page Settings button (chainwheel) > SEO.
User-friendly URL Structure
One of the essential SEO optimization steps is the use of SEO-friendly URL slug (link) for each page. Try to create shorter URLs for pages, up to 100 characters. Also, URL slug should be descriptive. For example, if your page is named as "About Us" and it includes corresponding content, it's good to use the URL slug "about" or "about-us".
It can be done in Page Settings > General.
H1-H6 Heading tag
Heading elements implement different levels of document headings, H1 is the most important and H6 is the least. Heading elements briefly describe the topic of the sections they belong to. It makes your page well-organized - for both users (visually) and search robots (in code). H1 tag is recommended to be added to a page only once.
You can assign H1-H4 meta tag to Heading/Text widget if a Title/Header text style is used, in the Settings of this widget:
Content
The texts should be interesting for visitors, well written and adapted. Also, the texts should be impeccable in style, grammar, and spelling. Otherwise, non-professional text may adversely affect user perception and experience.
The texts should also be unique. Search engines don't like duplicated content because it leads to content quality issues.
We recommend having 400-600 words of unique text per page, the safe minimum is 300 words. Of course, text should correspond the topic of the page and keywords chosen for this page.
Image Alt Attributes
All of your images used on your website pages are recommended to have alt text that is simple and understandable and describe what's on the image. Be sure to use keywords and suitable for the rest of the page content.
Indexing
Google analyzes how website pages pages link together, and assigns a weight to those links based on traffic, relevancy, size, age, content, and lots of other components. When pages that Google finds relevant link to other pages, some of that “Link Juice” flows through that link to the website being linked to.
NoFollow tags should be used on comments, site-wide external links, and on any internal links pointing to low quality or user worthless pages.
Canonical URL
It's important to exclude duplicate pages from the search engines' index. You can use canonical URLs to improve link and ranking signals for content available through multiple URL structures or via syndication. To solve possible issues with duplicate pages for your website, you can use self-canonical for each page, or specify the URL of the "canonical page" - where this content appeared first and which should get higher ranks.
Sitemap and Robots
robots.txt and sitemap.xml and the files that instruct search engines about what are your website pages, what pages should be indexed, what pages should be skipped, what's the page update frequency and its weight by importance.
URL Redirects
If you no longer want to show a page and want it to redirect visitors to another page, you might need to go to the desired destination page and enable this option in Page Settings > SEO, then input the URL slug of the pages from where a redirect should occur.
Also, don't forget to add old URL slugs to the redirects section if you change the URL of a page if it's been indexed already!
